Job summary

STR’s Analytics & C2 Division is seeking an Autonomy Algorithms Lead Software Engineer in Woburn, MA or Arlington, VA. You will design and implement advanced autonomy algorithms and software systems for unmanned platforms, guiding the full software lifecycle from prototype to production.

You will mentor a team of engineers, collaborate with researchers to translate complex mathematical concepts into deployable code, and help drive DevSecOps, CI/CD, and rigorous code quality practices in a hybrid

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility; U.S. citizenship required.
• BS in Computer Science or related technical field with 7+ years of experience.
• 5+ years of experience with C++ or Java.
• Full stack development experience with heavy backend algorithmic focus.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and backend optimization.
• Ability to develop, implement, integrate, and test autonomy algorithms and software.
• Not interested in Front end UI/UX or database management/interaction.
• Proven ability to translate complex mathematical concepts to software.
• Proven ability to lead and manage modest engineering teams (5+ engineers) through Agile lifecycle.
• Experience with code reviews, unit testing, static analysis, and test coverage.
• Experience leading system/software architecture design.
• Comfortable working with leadership and customers on product plans.
• Experience using OO design, Agile tools (JIRA, Confluence, GitLab), and TDD.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, integrate, test and demonstrate advanced autonomy algorithms.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring across the lifecycle.
• Build software tools for mission planning, automated control, unmanned platforms, DevSecOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with researchers to translate complex mathematical concepts to software applications.
