Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) invites interns to tackle high-impact challenges across GNC, RF/EO/IR, M&S, and hardware/software development for autonomous systems in national security.

You will work with engineers, model and simulate tools, and interact with government sponsors while pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in relevant fields.

Applicants should have coding experience in C++, Python, Matlab/Simulink, and be eligible for a security clearance; minimum GPA 3.0.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Software/Systems Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
  • Prior internship, hobbies, or class projects related to the technical areas.
  • Experience coding C++, Python, Matlab/Simulink, or other languages.
  • Ability to obtain Interim Secret clearance by start date and eventual Secret level clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; transcripts may be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to designs and research in autonomous systems for national security programs.
  • Build, test, and refine modeling, simulation, and analysis tools.
  • Collaborate with engineers and engage with government sponsors.
  • Develop expertise in GNC, RF/EO/IR, M&S, and HW/SW development and testing.
