Job summary

Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in the Baltimore-Washington metro area invites motivated students pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or related fields to join a multidisciplinary team tackling national-security challenges.

You will work with engineers and scientists across aerospace, electrical, software, physics, and data analysis to build models, write software, analyze RF systems, and gain hands-on experience in a mission-driven environment with

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or a related field with a 3.5 GPA or higher.
  • Experience programming in MATLAB, Python, C++, Java or similar.
  • Enjoy solving analytical problems and learning new technical subjects.
  • Able to communicate ideas and results effectively.
  • Interested in collaborative work within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Eligible for Interim Secret clearance by start date and able to obtain Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop models and simulations to understand complex aerospace and electronic systems.
  • Write software and tools to analyze, test, and evaluate RF technologies.
  • Apply engineering, physics, math, and data analysis to missile/defense system performance.
  • Help design software tools for hardware-in-the-loop laboratory testing.
  • Assess how current and future defense technologies perform against threats.
  • Collaborate with engineers from multiple disciplines on new approaches.
