Job summary

Midas in Merrillville, IN is seeking an Automotive Manager in Training/Service Writer. This store-manager developmental role builds fundamental service and sales skills while you train to handle phone calls, set appointments, and interact with customers.

You will perform inspections, discuss pricing, oversee technicians, and help maintain inventory and shop organization. The position offers base pay with weekly bonuses and overtime in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years store or service manager experience preferred but not required.
• General automotive knowledge.
• Excellent customer service disposition.
• Good communication skills.
• Leadership ability and team-building skills.
• Ability to follow directions and process.
• Ability to use computers and software.
• Ability to work a flexible retail schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service while listening to and consulting customers.
• Follow up with customers, services requested, estimated completion times, etc.
• Oversee complete vehicle inspections and make comprehensive recommendations—build computerized repair orders and source parts.
• Deliver and discuss pricing estimates with customers and promote shop service specials.
• Oversee technicians’ inspections, diagnosing and repairing of domestic, European and Asian cars and light trucks.
• Maintain inventory counts.
• Overall cleanliness and organization of the facility.
• Perform oil changes, tire rotations, and very basic technician jobs.
• Other duties as assigned.
