Job summary

Ecology Auto Parts, Inc. is seeking a Service Writer to join our Bloomington shop and act as a key hub between customers, technicians, and management.

You will document service requests, prepare work orders, coordinate workflow, and maintain accurate data entry across internal systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer proficiency, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical/administrative education is a plus.
• Experience as a service writer or administrative role preferred.
• Strong computer skills: data entry, email, spreadsheets, basic reporting.
• Ability to learn shop management or service tracking software quickly.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; strong organization.
• Professional, customer-service oriented; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Primary contact for customers on service inquiries and job status.
• Create, update, and manage service work orders in internal systems.
• Enter service details, labor notes, parts usage, and updates.
• Coordinate workflow between technicians, yard staff, and management.
• Communicate timelines and completion status clearly to customers.
• Maintain organized records for service jobs and invoices.
• Assist with scheduling and prioritizing service work.
• Support inventory tracking and parts coordination.
• Ensure compliance with policies, safety standards, and procedures.
• Use shop software and spreadsheets to support daily operations.
• Assist leadership with reporting and special projects.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of documentation and processes.
