Job summary

The Pep Boys Manny Moe & Jack of California in Skokie is seeking a customer-focused associate to greet customers, schedule appointments, sell parts and services, and ensure the service desk, sales floor and register run smoothly.

You will assist in routine express automotive services, perform basic vehicle inspections, and help maintain a safe and organized shop while following company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver's License.
• One year of related experience in the automotive service environment.
• One year of sales experience preferred.
• Must have basic knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions.

Responsibilities

• First point of contact for customers on the phone and in the store. Engage customers, schedule appointments, build trust, understand needs, and sell parts and services.
• Organize and drive productivity of the service business through work order and register transactions, thorough vehicle inspections, and service knowledge.
• Assist in customer care, work order and register tasks, facility maintenance, and Outside Purchase ordering.
• Follow all policies related to cash, credit, checks, refunds and returns; work with management on issues and opportunities.
• Perform routine express automotive services (tires, oil changes, fluids, filters, batteries) and vehicle inspections.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed; verify wheel torque and fluid services per SOPs.
• Support management to maintain a safe, compliant work environment.
• Communicate effectively with associates, management and customers; relay information clearly.
• Key holder responsible for opening and closing duties.
• Maintain an organized, neat shop and adherence to policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
