Job summary

Daimler Truck North America seeks an Assembly Quality Engineer to support the Detroit transmission assembly line. The role emphasizes applying quality engineering methods to improve process capability, reduce variation, and ensure compliance with engineering specs.

You will lead cross-functional projects, perform data-driven analyses, develop CAPAs, and contribute to Lean and Six Sigma initiatives. A Bachelor's in a relevant engineering field and 2–4 years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related
• 2–4 years of professional engineering experience in quality/manufacturing/industrial engineering
• Experience applying engineering principles, statistical analysis, and quality management methodologies in manufacturing
• Proficiency with quality engineering tools including SPC, root cause analysis, process capability studies, control plans, and corrective action systems

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain quality systems and control plans for transmission assembly
• Apply statistical methods to analyze processes and improve quality
• Design and optimize inspection and validation processes
• Conduct root cause investigations (FMEA, 8D, Fishbone, SPC)
• Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends and risks
• Develop and validate CAPAs to eliminate defects
• Collaborate with Manufacturing and Supplier Engineering on launches and changes
• Prepare technical reports and quality metrics
• Support Lean and Six Sigma improvements
• Provide guidance to cross-functional teams
