Job summary

General Motors is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design, qualification, and deployment of assembly processes for transmission and drive unit manufacturing. You will oversee equipment development from concept through production, collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to deliver high-quality parts on time.

This role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and launch readiness, with a strong focus on process innovation and advanced manufacturing technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of assembly or machining process development experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on plant floor experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of process engineering disciplines and product development processes.
• Solid understanding of high-volume manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Experience managing equipment development through design, build, installation, and launch; ability to work with internal teams and external vendors.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, build, and implement machinery, tooling, and equipment to support assembly processes.
• Lead the design and installation of equipment and tools for production readiness.
• Source and qualify assembly equipment and processes from concept to production.
• Develop cost estimates and manage program timing and budget to keep projects on schedule.
• Provide technical leadership to external suppliers and equipment vendors.
• Develop and implement advanced manufacturing process technologies.
• Create and maintain core manufacturing documentation (PFD, PFMEA, PCP, BOE/BOP).
• Apply GD&T to ensure equipment and processes meet design requirements and quality standards.
