Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to analyze and implement process designs for Transmission and Drive Unit assembly. The role involves driving process improvements, coordinating with product engineering, and overseeing tooling and equipment development for manufacturing high‑quality parts.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of related experience, strong problem‑solving skills, and experience in FMEA, control plans, QA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering and 5 years of related manufacturing experience.
• Experience with process engineering, plant floor manufacturability, BOMs and safety controls.
• Strong problem solving including FMEA, control plans, leak tests and torque operations; safety design.
• Experience with simulation, throughput analysis and TOC concepts; workload modeling.
• Four years of understanding Transmission and Drive Unit operation.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and implement product and machinery designs for best manufacturing methods.
• Propose and evaluate processes for equipment in the assigned area.
• Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes.
• Lead projects for Transmission and Drive Unit Assembly Equipment.
• Support prototypes through process/tool development; work with product engineering to refine designs.
• Implement production processes for new products; oversee installation and launch.
• Provide technical direction to vendors and junior engineers.
• Investigate warranty data and implement corrective actions to prevent defects.
