Job summary

General Motors seeks a Manufacturing Engineer for the Assembly Process Group to design and implement assembly processes for transmission and drive unit manufacturing. You will source, build, and qualify equipment from concept through production, driving efficiency and quality across the line.

You will lead cross-functional teams, manage vendor relations, and advance advanced manufacturing technologies while maintaining safety, cost, and schedule discipline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years in assembly or machining process development.
• Hands-on plant floor experience.
• Strong knowledge of process engineering disciplines.
• Experience with high-volume manufacturing processes.
• Experience leading equipment development from design to launch.
• Ability to collaborate with internal teams and external vendors.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, build, and implement equipment for transmission and drive unit manufacturing.
• Lead design, construction, integration, plant installation, launch, and improvements of equipment.
• Source and qualify assembly equipment from concept to production.
• Develop cost estimates and manage timing and spending.
• Provide technical leadership to suppliers and vendors.
• Develop, test, and implement advanced manufacturing process technologies.
• Create core manufacturing documentation (PFD, PFMEA, PCP, BOE/BOP).
• Apply GD&T to ensure equipment meets design requirements.
• Support manufacturing process development with focus on safety, quality, efficiency, launch readiness.
