Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an Installation Technician to install GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, and related equipment on light-duty vehicles and commercial trucks. You will perform wiring, diagnostics, and on-site service at customer locations.

You will travel to fleets, document work with photos and notes, and maintain safety and quality in a mobile environment using hand and power tools. ASE/I-CAR certifications are nice to have; a valid driver's license and ability to lift 50 lbs are required.

Qualifications

Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience.
Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics.
Comfortable using hand and power tools.
Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Comfortable working independently in a mobile environment.
Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work.
Professional communication and customer service skills.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in, around, and underneath vehicles and trailers.
21+ years of age.
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions.
ASE, I-CAR, or related certifications are nice to have

Experience with Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx, or similar platforms is nice to have
12V/24V electrical experience is nice to have
Commercial truck or trailer experience is nice to have

Responsibilities

Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, and telematics systems.
Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and fleet assets.
Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections.
Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations.
Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality.
Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues.
Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes.
Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects.
Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations.
