Jobtailor is seeking a field-based GPS installation technician to install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment across diverse fleet assets. You will perform wiring, testing, and diagnostics in mobile environments, ensuring safe, high-quality installations with clear documentation.

The role requires hands-on experience, a valid driver's license, and strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment.
Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets.
Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections.
Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations.
Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality.
Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues.
Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes.
Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects.
Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations.

Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets
Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections

Requirements

Comfortable working independently in a mobile environment

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in, around, and underneath vehicles and trailers
21+ years of age
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions

Telematics/GPS/ELD installation experience preferred
Experience with Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx, or similar platforms preferred
12V/24V electrical experience preferred
Commercial truck or trailer experience preferred
ADAS scanning or calibration experience preferred
ASE, I-CAR, or related certification preferred
