Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Field Installation Technician to perform GPS/telematics installations and diagnostics acrossvehicle fleets. You will work on trucks, trailers, and mobile assets, wiring systems and validating functionality in diverse settings.

The role emphasizes safety, precise documentation, and high-quality, right-first-time work. A clean driving record and 21+ years old are required, with nice-to-have telematics platform experience.

Responsibilities

Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment.
Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets.
Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections.
Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations.
Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality.
Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues.
Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes.
Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects.
Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations.

Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets
Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections
Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations

Requirements

Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience
Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics
Comfortable using hand and power tools
Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working independently in a mobile environment
Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work
Professional communication and customer service skills
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in, around, and underneath vehicles and trailers
21+ years of age
Telematics/GPS/ELD installation experience preferred as a nice-to-have
Experience with Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx, or similar platforms preferred as a nice-to-have
12V/24V electrical experience preferred as a nice-to-have
Commercial truck or trailer experience preferred as a nice-to-have
ADAS scanning or calibration experience preferred as a nice-to-have
ASE, I-CAR, or related certifications preferred as a nice-to-have
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions
