Job summary

Jobtailor in San Antonio, TX is seeking an experienced GPS/telematics installation technician to join our mobile installation team. You will install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, cameras, and fleet sensors on a variety of commercial vehicles.

You must read wiring diagrams, perform 12V/24V wiring, document work with photos, and travel to customer sites. ASE or I-CAR certifications are a plus, and you will need a clean driving record and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience with GPS/telematics installations on fleet vehicles.
Familiarity with vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics.
Ability to read wiring diagrams and install wiring safely.

Responsibilities

Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment.
Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets.
Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections.
Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations.
Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality.
Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues.
Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes.
Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects.
Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations.

Requirements

Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience
Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics
Comfortable using hand and power tools
Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working independently in a mobile environment
Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work
Professional communication and customer service skills
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in, around, and underneath vehicles and trailers
21+ years of age
Telematics/GPS/ELD installation experience preferred
Experience with Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx, or similar platforms preferred
12V/24V electrical experience preferred
Commercial truck or trailer experience preferred
ADAS scanning or calibration experience preferred
ASE, I-CAR, or related certifications preferred
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions
