Jobtailor is seeking a skilled field installer in Oregon to handle GPS/telematics installations and related wiring on a range of fleet assets. You will travel to customer sites, perform on-site diagnostics, and ensure high-quality, safe installations.

Documentation of each job with photos and notes is required. Ideal candidates have hands-on automotive or electrical experience, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to read wiring diagrams.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment.
Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and fleet assets.
Perform basic 12V/24V wiring and trailer connections.
Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations.
Test system functionality and diagnose issues on-site.
Document installations with photos, device info, and service notes.
Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations.
Maintain safety and quality in right-first-time installations.

Job description

Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment
Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets
Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections
Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations
Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality
Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues
Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes
Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects
Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations

Requirements

Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience
Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics
Comfortable using hand and power tools
Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working independently in a mobile environment
Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work
Professional communication and customer service skills
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in, around, and underneath vehicles and trailers
21+ years of age
Telematics/GPS/ELD installation experience is nice to have
Experience with Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx, or similar platforms is nice to have
12V/24V electrical experience is nice to have
Commercial truck or trailer experience is nice to have
ADAS scanning or calibration experience is nice to have
ASE, I-CAR, or related certifications are nice to have
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions
