Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a mobile installation technician to install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and related equipment on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets. You will travel to customer and fleet locations for on-site installations, perform 12V/24V wiring, diagnose electrical issues, and test system functionality.

Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time workmanship, document completed work

Qualifications

Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience.
Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics.
Comfortable using hand and power tools.
Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Comfortable working independently in a mobile environment.
Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work.
Professional communication and customer service skills.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work around vehicles/trailers.
21+ years of age.
Telematics/GPS/ELD installation experience (nice to have).
Experience with Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx, or similar platforms (nice to have).
12V/24V electrical experience (nice to have).
Commercial truck or trailer experience (nice to have).
ADAS scanning or calibration experience (nice to have).
ASE, I-CAR, or related certifications (nice to have).
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions.

Responsibilities

Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment.
Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets.
Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections.
Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations.
Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality.
Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues.
Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes.
Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects.
Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations.
