Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Site Engineer to support the reliability, availability, and performance of its automated warehouse systems in a live production environment. This hands-on role focuses on troubleshooting, stabilizing, and maintaining electro-mechanical systems to ensure maximum uptime.

You will work closely with maintenance, operations, and technical teams to diagnose issues, document findings, and implement preventive measures while adhering to OSHA, LOTO, and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
• Minimum 1 year hands-on experience with PLCs (preferably Allen-Bradley) focused on diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• At least 1 year with VFDs and diagnosing speed, torque, and drive-related issues.
• Minimum 1 year with AC/DC motors and automated systems (conveyors, lifts, etc).
• Experience supporting autonomous or semi-autonomous systems (conveyors, AS/RS, robotics, servo motors, 480V).
• Strong knowledge of SQL, Python, and Linux for diagnostics and log review.
• Hands-on experience assembling, operating, maintaining robotics and electro-mechanical systems.
• Maintenance/automation maintenance or lead technician experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain health of automated systems including conveyors, lifts, robotic vehicles, motors, sensors, and PLC equipment.
• Perform advanced electrical, mechanical, and automation troubleshooting to resolve production-impacting issues.
• Diagnose failures across PLCs (Allen-Bradley), VFDs, motors, sensors and control hardware.
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities on automated equipment.
• Use system data, alarms, logs, and dashboards to identify fault conditions and recurring issues.
• Document maintenance activities and findings in CMMS (Maximo) and internal tools.
• Act as senior technical escalation point during disruptions or downtime events.
• Collaborate with on-site maintenance, operations, and technical teams to restore performance.
• Provide technical guidance and on-the-job support to maintenance technicians and operators.
• Step in to support critical on-site technical functions to maintain uptime.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, LOTO, electrical safety, and Symbotic safety standards.
