Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Site Engineer to support the reliability, availability, and performance of its automated warehouse systems in a live production environment. This hands-on role focuses on troubleshooting, maintenance, and system health on site.

You will work with maintenance, operations, and technical teams to stabilize system performance, document activities, and ensure OSHA and safety standards are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 1 year hands-on experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley) focusing on diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• Minimum 1 year experience with VFDs and diagnosing drive-related issues.
• Minimum 1 year experience with AC/DC motors.
• Hands-on experience with automated systems such as conveyors, lifts, and motor-driven equipment.
• Experience with autonomous or semi-autonomous systems including AS/RS and robotics.
• Experience with SQL, Python, and Linux for diagnostics and log review.
• Strong hands-on experience with robotics and electro-mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain health of conveyors, lifts, robotic vehicles, motors, sensors, and PLC-controlled equipment.
• Perform electrical, mechanical, and automation troubleshooting to resolve production-impacting issues.
• Diagnose failures across PLCs (Allen-Bradley), VFDs, motors, sensors, and control hardware.
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities on automated equipment.
• Use system data, alarms, logs, and dashboards to identify fault conditions and recurring issues.
• Document maintenance activities using CMMS systems (e.g., Maximo) and internal tools.
• Act as senior escalation point during system disruptions or downtime events.
• Partner with on-site maintenance, operations, and technical teams to restore performance.
• Provide technical guidance and on-the-job support to technicians and operators.
• Support critical on-site technical functions to maintain uptime.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, LOTO, electrical safety, and Symbotic standards.
