Job summary
Sterling Engineering is seeking an Automation Field Service Technician to install, operate, and service robotic and automated manufacturing systems. This remote-based role requires residence in the Pittsburgh area and involves 80–85% travel to support customer installations and maintenance across the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic US region.
You will read blueprints and schematics, troubleshoot complex systems, and collaborate with engineering teams to improve performance.
Qualifications
- Technical degree, trade certification, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Experience with industrial automation, manufacturing equipment, fabrication, machine shop, or mechanical/electrical systems.
- Welding experience is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude; willingness to learn new tech.
- Willingness to travel 80–85%.
Responsibilities
- Install, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain robotic and automated systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs onsite at customer facilities.
- Read blueprints, electrical schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve system performance.
- Ensure customer equipment operates efficiently and reliably.
