Job summary

CarMax Lafayette is seeking an Auto Repair Specialist II to perform advanced mechanical and cosmetic repairs, following CarMax quality and inspection processes. You will interact with customers, manage repair orders, and maintain parts inventory while upholding EH&S and 5S standards.

Role requires ASE-related certifications as applicable, ability to multitask in a high-energy environment, and strong communication skills to explain services and options to customers.

Qualifications

• Completion of New Associate Orientation Training – Operations and Kronos Training for Hourly Associates.
• Ability to read, interpret, and record data accurately.
• Capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced mechanical repairs, including engine performance, drivability, and electrical systems.
• Diagnose and repair brake systems, steering, suspension, complete 4-wheel alignments, and service heating and air conditioning systems.
• Inspect vehicles to meet CarMax Quality Standards and maintain shop cleanliness per 5S principles.
• Consult with customers on repair needs, explain services performed, and ensure clear communication.
• Review and close repair orders accurately, including labor, parts, and billing documentation.
• Manage parts inventory, receive shipments, and maintain proper stocking levels to support efficiency.
• Follow CarMax EH&S requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
