Job summary

CarMax Lafayette, LA is seeking an Auto Repair Specialist II to perform advanced mechanical and cosmetic repairs, ensuring quality standards and handling customer interactions during repairs. You will follow the CarMax Certified Quality Inspection Process and Retail Repair Process to deliver top-notch results.

You will also manage parts inventory, maintain tools and equipment, and support store operations with integrity and precision while adhering to EH&S requirements and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of New Associate Orientation Training – Operations and Kronos Training for Hourly Associates.
• Maintain ASE Certifications in Steering and Suspension (A4), Brakes (A5), Heating Air Conditioning (A7), Electrical (A6), Engine Repair (A1), Manual Drive Train and Axles (A3), Engine Performance (A8), and Automatic Transmission/Transaxle (A2) where required by law.
• Ability to read, interpret, and record data accurately.
• Capable of performing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying conditions with flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced mechanical repairs, including engine performance, drivability, and electrical systems.
• Diagnose and repair brake systems, steering, suspension, complete 4-wheel alignments, and service heating and air conditioning systems.
• Inspect vehicles to meet CarMax Quality Standards and maintain shop cleanliness per 5S principles.
• Consult with customers on repair needs, explain services performed, and ensure clear communication.
• Review and close repair orders accurately, including labor, parts, and billing documentation.
• Manage parts inventory, receive shipments, and maintain proper stocking levels to support efficiency.
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
