Job summary

CarMax is seeking an Auto Repair Specialist II in Pleasant Hill, CA to perform advanced mechanical and cosmetic repairs, inspect vehicles, and communicate repair needs with customers.

Responsibilities include diagnosing systems, managing parts inventory, and ensuring safety and quality per CarMax standards. This role requires ASE certifications, strong communication, and the ability to work a flexible schedule in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of New Associate Orientation Training – Operations and Kronos Training for Hourly Associates.
• Maintain ASE Certifications in Steering and Suspension (A4), Brakes (A5), Heating Air Conditioning (A7), Electrical (A6), Engine Repair (A1), Manual Drive Train and Axles (A3), Engine Performance (A8), and Automatic Transmission/Transaxle (A2).
• Ability to read, interpret, and record data accurately.
• Capable of performing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and work nights, weekends, and holidays; adaptable and team-oriented.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced mechanical repairs on engines, drivability, and electrical systems.
• Diagnose and repair brake systems, steering, suspension, and complete 4-wheel alignments; service HVAC.
• Inspect vehicles to CarMax Quality Standards and maintain 5S shop cleanliness.
• Consult with customers on repair needs and explain services performed.
• Close repair orders accurately including labor, parts, and billing.
• Manage parts inventory, receive shipments, and maintain stocking levels.
• Follow EH&S requirements and keep work area clean and orderly.
