Job summary

CarMax is seeking an Auto Repair Specialist I to perform diagnostics, mechanical and cosmetic repairs on customer and internal vehicles. You’ll ensure safety and quality, deliver excellent customer service, and grow your career within a fast-paced store environment.

The role requires reading data accurately, multitasking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays. ASE Certifications are expected where required by state law.

Qualifications

• ASE Certifications in Steering and Suspension, Brakes, Heating Air Conditioning, Electrical, Engine Repair, Manual Drive Train and Axles, Engine Performance, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle (A1–A8)

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate diagnostics and complete mechanical and cosmetic repairs on all vehicle systems
• Inspect vehicles to meet CarMax Quality Standards and complete state inspections when required
• Manage repair orders, ensuring accuracy in labor, parts, and billing documentation
• Utilize proprietary and universal software systems
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace following CarMax 5S standards and safety protocols
• Provide leadership and functional expertise to support associates and managers across the store
• Follow CarMax EH&S requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
