First Chicago Insurance Company seeks an experienced Litigation Specialist to manage litigated and complex auto liability claims, across personal and commercial lines, from intake through settlement or defense. You will determine coverage, secure statements, coordinate with defense counsel, maintain files, and ensure compliance with Department of Insurance rules.

Strong negotiation, organization, and legal knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• College degree and/or 5 years of applicable claims adjusting experience.
• Knowledge of legal and medical terminology.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to pass written examinations where required by state statutes to become a licensed claim adjuster.

Responsibilities

• Handle litigated and complex injury claims in accordance with office procedures.
• Determine coverage and draft reservations of rights letters.
• Conduct investigations by securing statements and obtaining documents (police reports, medical bills, etc.).
• Litigation management with defense counsel and experts on defense cases and declaratory judgments.
• Maintain diaries on open files and manage claim documentation.
