First Chicago Insurance Company seeks an experienced Litigation Specialist to handle litigated and complex auto liability claims. You will determine coverage, draft letters of reservation of rights, and secure critical documents and statements for investigations.

Responsibilities include managing litigation with defense counsel, maintaining file diaries, and researching case law to ensure proper settlements within regulatory guidelines. A licensed adjuster or license eligibility is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher preferred with claims/adjusting exposure.
• Strong knowledge of legal and medical terminology.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to pass state license examinations to become a licensed claim adjuster.

Responsibilities

• Handle litigated and complex injury claims from auto policies in line with office procedures.
• Determine coverage and draft reservations of rights letters as needed.
• Gather statements, documents, police reports, medicals, photos, and appraisals for investigations.
• Manage litigation with defense counsel and experts; handle declaratory judgment actions as applicable.
• Maintain diaries on all open files and track claim activity per policy and regulations.
• Research case law, statutes, and forms to adjust and conclude claims; identify use of experts.
