Job summary

Gersh Autism is seeking a compassionate Behavior Technician (Paraprofessional) to support students with autism in a year-round school program in Queens, NY. You will work directly with students, providing academic and behavioral support to help them reach individualized goals.

You will assist in implementing IEPs and BIPs, offer one-on-one and small group support, and help with daily tasks and self-management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree or higher in education, psychology, or related field preferred.
• Experience with children, especially those with autism, is a plus but not required.
• Willingness to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) within the specified time frame.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher with IEPs and BIPs for students with autism.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to boost academic, social, and behavioral growth.
• Help students with daily tasks including communication and self-management.
• Prepare students and materials for activities and transitions.
• Collaborate with teachers and behavior specialists to create a positive learning environment.
• Communicate progress and challenges with school staff.
