Job summary

Gersh Autism seeks a compassionate Behavior Technician (Paraprofessional) to support students with autism in a 12‑month school program in West Hempstead, NY. You will work closely with teachers to implement IEPs and BIPs, provide one‑to‑one and small group support, and help students with communication and self‑management skills.

You will participate in daily trainings with behavior analysts, document progress, and collaborate with the behavior team to create a structured learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Experience working with children, especially those with autism or special needs, is a plus but not required.
• Willingness to pursue RBT certification within the specified timeframe.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing IEPs and BIPs for students with autism.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, fostering academic, social, and behavioral growth.
• Help students with daily tasks including communication, social interaction, and self-management.
• Prepare materials and support students for daily routines and school activities.
• Collaborate with teachers and behavior specialists to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Document data on student performance, behavior, and progress toward goals.
