Job summary

Gersh Autism Academy is seeking a compassionate Behaviour Technician (Paraprofessional) to support students with autism in a 12-month Queens, NY school program. You will work directly with students, assisting teachers with IEP/BIP implementation and promoting academic, social, and behavioral growth in both one-on-one and small group settings.

Join a dedicated team, participate in daily training with behavioral analysts, and pursue growth opportunities within Gersh Autism network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher in education, psychology, or related field preferred.
• Experience with children, especially those with autism, is a plus but not required.
• Willingness to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) within a specified time frame.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and flexibility in various situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing IEPs and BIPs for students with autism.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students' academic, social, and behavioral growth.
• Help students with daily tasks including communication, social interaction, and self-management.
• Prepare students and materials for activities and transitions.
• Support students during classroom activities, field trips, and school events.
• Implement strategies from behavior intervention plans to promote self-regulation.
