Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools is hiring a Para AUT-Mild-Level III to assist in Instructional programs for students with special needs. The role includes supervising and supporting in regular and special education settings, implementing IEP plans, and collaborating with teachers.

The position requires a Georgia PSC paraprofessional certificate or equivalent, a high school diploma or GED with appropriate assessments, and willingness to support students with daily living tasks and behavior

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED with Praxis Parapro/GACE Parapro required
• 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours from PSC-approved college if assessments not used
• Experience in a licensed child care environment preferred
• Knowledge of child development, MS Office, interpersonal skills, office and media equipment

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities and materials to reinforce IEP objectives
• Provide immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed
• Administer tests, homework, and make-up work to support teachers
• Assist medically fragile or disabled students with daily needs
• Escort students to designated activity areas and support safe conduct
• Confer with teachers on student progress and IEP objectives
• Monitor classroom and school activities to ensure a safe learning environment
• Perform record keeping and data collection to support instructional needs
• Provide instruction in small and large group settings to reinforce objectives
• Respond to emergencies and participate in crisis intervention procedures
• Assist with monitoring duties in hallways, lunchroom, and restrooms
