Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC in Austin seeks a Support Engineer to provide on-site IT coverage for the office and lab, and to anchor the Americas end of a globally distributed team. You will maintain systems, image and provision hardware, and own the Austin portion of a follow-the-sun on-call rotation.

You will work with senior engineers across Zurich and Shanghai, supporting production systems and the network of labs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software development or 2+ years of technical support experience.
• Experience scripting in modern programming languages.
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
• Work rotating shift schedules and variable days off.
• Professional experience in IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure engineering, including on-site/hands-on work.
• Solid Linux and Windows endpoint knowledge, plus networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP).
• Scripting ability (e.g. Python or Bash) and willingness to work with infrastructure-as-code and automation.
• Comfort with hands-on hardware work: imaging, provisioning, cabling, and lab support.

Responsibilities

• Austin office & lab IT: keep systems running, end-user support, networking, local infrastructure.
• Provisioning & equipment: image and provision laptops/desktops; manage local equipment and ordering.
• Production support coverage: provide Americas-hours coverage for production-critical systems; monitor the line and respond to incidents.
• On-call: own the Austin end of the follow-the-sun rotation, close the 18-hour window and hand off to Shanghai.
• Operate & maintain: run and maintain systems built by the wider team; apply IaC changes and improve monitoring/reliability.
• Local hands: be on-site for physical infrastructure work in Austin—cabling, hardware, installs and integration with guidance from Zurich.
