Job summary

Amazon IT services is looking for an IT Support Engineer to join the Austin, USA team. The role involves providing technical assistance to Amazon corporate employees and acting as the first point of contact for IT service requests worldwide.

Salary: $20‑30 per hour. The position requires on-site support, travel between Herndon and Arlington sites, with occasional travel to Baltimore and other U.S. towns, and after-hours work for exchange requests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology, IT, or related field, or 2+ years of relevant IT work experience.
• 2+ years of experience in a technical support desk or similar environment.
• 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Windows10 and at least one of the following: MacOSX, Linux.
• 2+ years of experience with networking hardware and concepts including DNS, DHCP, OSI model, and TCP/IP.
• Ability to lift or move equipment up to 25lbs.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

• Offer comprehensive technical help to Amazon corporate employees.
• Collect and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant IT policies to provide accurate support.
• Perform hardware procurement and asset management.
• Troubleshoot and guide LAN and on‑site servers via tickets, alerts, and change management.
• Create and maintain documentation.
• Manage the ticket queue.
• Ensure completion of requests and technical tasks.
• Assist in triaging and improving system or workplace outages to reduce downtime.
• Provide on‑site assistance for Sev1 and Sev2 incidents.
• Manage escalations from Level1 support.
• Follow, update, and develop standard operating procedures to improve the team’s knowledge base.
• Daily travel between Herndon and Arlington sites required; occasional travel to Baltimore and other U.S. towns.
• Work after‑hours for exchange requests.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology, IT, or related field; or 2+ years of relevant IT work experience
