The Assistant Director (AD) is a part of the Academic Success and Planning (ASP) leadership team within the department of the Academic Advisement Center (AAC). The AD provides supervision for full‑time Academic and Career Advisors and offers advisement in one of three meta‑major‑specific areas: 1) Science and Mathematics, 2) Business, Computing and Education, and 3) Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. The AD establishes a student‑centered, high‑performance culture, serves as primary administrator of technology systems, and supports the university‑wide academic advisement strategy. The incumbent will develop and present workshops, and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
Participates on the AAC Leadership Team, providing leadership and support to cross‑functional initiatives. Oversees the advising program from orientation through graduation, including review of academic performance, communication cycles, degree progress trends, and advising‑related programming. Contributes to the development of annual goals for the AAC and the strategic planning process for ASP. Leads the development of innovative technology strategies to enhance student contact and service, generates reports on student trends, risk indicators, and usage data, and communicates findings to stakeholders. Champions key advising projects such as academic probation/suspension, transfer students, dual enrollment, student degree progress, advisor onboarding, and professional development. Manages a student caseload and coordinates staffing for day‑to‑day operations and special events. Assigns student caseloads, mentors staff, conducts performance evaluations, and ensures effective teamwork and communication. Serves on university committees as necessary. OTHER: Performs other duties as assigned.
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of two years of academic advising experience, supervisory experience, and expertise in student development, career development, teaching a first‑year experience course, or a professional setting at a college.
Master’s degree in Academic Advising, College Student Personnel, Student Affairs and Higher Education, counseling, or a closely related field. Five years of full‑time advising experience at the college/university level, including moderate growth in role and supervision or mentoring of others.
Shift: Days; Monday–Friday (work outside of regular business hours may be required).
Salary commensurate with qualifications within the established range (generally minimum–midpoint).
Recruitment Period: Until Filled.
