Job summary

Indiana University Health Avon is seeking a Food Service Worker to join the patient meal team. You will prepare, plate, serve and transport meals and supplies to patients, families, physicians and staff with a focus on timeliness and courtesy.

You will uphold sanitation standards, follow infection control practices and operate kitchen equipment and related computer systems as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• No experience required; prior food service experience preferred.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must wear protective gear as required by regulations.
• Adherence to health regulations and safety requirements.

Overview

Prepares, plates, serves and transports food and supplies to provide a high level of satisfaction for patients, family members, physicians, team members and the public. Responsible for timely, accurate and courteous service. Responsible for associated sanitation, cleaning and infection control practices to ensure food safety. Operates a variety of food service and computer equipment.

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience is preferred.
• No experience is required. Prior food service experience is preferred.
• Requires the ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.
• Requires adherence to local health regulations and safety requirements to produce safe food for consumption.
• Requires the ability to climb ladders.
• Physical requirements to include: reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.
