Job summary

Burns & McDonnell seeks an Assistant Structural Engineer to support project teams on a range of facilities, from power and healthcare to airports and government buildings. Under supervision, you will contribute to design, drafting, and field activities, ensuring designs align with budget and client needs.

Ideal candidates hold a structural engineering degree, have internship exposure, and are proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, and related tools.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related field from an accredited program; ABET preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of standard structural engineering techniques, principles and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the structural design of projects from concept to design completion.
• Modify and review production drawings for diverse facilities.
• Assist in designing structural components per project manager requirements.
• Apply basic structural engineering concepts and procedures.
• Assist with data collection and CAD updates across software.
• Support client presentations, shop drawing reviews and contract administration.
• Perform field inspections, measurements or calculations as needed.
• Comply with company policies and standards.
