Job summary

The Salvation Army Seaside Thrift Store in Alameda, CA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to lead daily operations, supervise staff, and ensure outstanding customer service. This on-site role offers full-time hours, competitive hourly pay, and benefits as part of the ARC team.

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of two years of retail management experience, a valid driver’s license, and strong communication skills to interact with management, staff, donors, and customers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of Retail Management/Supervisory experience.
• Ability to operate POS/Cash Register and schedule/supervise store staff.
• Valid Driver’s license with proof of insurance.
• Background check including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
• Excellent communication with management, staff, customers and donors.

Responsibilities

• Takes active role with Store Manager in day-to-day store operations.
• Assumes responsibility in manager's absence; trains and develops staff.
• Maintains customer/donor relations; resolves complaints efficiently.
• Coordinates daily morning and shift change meetings in absence of Store Manager.
• Supervises staff to ensure compliance with directives and guidelines.
• Trains new personnel on store policies and procedures.
• Communicates personnel issues to District Sales Manager and HR as needed.
• Completes tasks assigned by Store Manager and District Sales Manager.
• Manages Time and Attendance and maintains ARC merchandising standards.
