Job summary

Family Dollar in Waterbury, CT is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with opening and closing, merchandise flow from delivery to floor, and ensure promotional displays remain effective while following corporate directives.

As a supervisor, you will train and develop store associates, promote a positive and respectful environment, safeguard store assets and cash, and maintain a clean, well-stocked sales

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, etc.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional displays and fixtures.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll and scheduling, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures and ensure staff follow them.
• Help store manager supervise, train, and develop store associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe environment with professional interactions with customers and staff.
