Job summary

Family Dollar in Meriden, CT is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with opening and closing procedures, organize merchandise, and ensure displays remain appealing while delivering a positive shopping experience.

The role requires strong communication, the ability to lead a small team, and the stamina to lift up to 55 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Retail, grocery, or drug store management experience preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize, transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process directives including compliance, inquiries, and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged items, payroll/scheduling/cash handling, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and procedures including safety guidelines.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Ensure store cleanliness including bathrooms, floors, and trash removal.
• Other duties as assigned.
