Job summary

Dollar Tree in La Porte, IN is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, deliver strong customer service, and develop the store team.

You will assist with merchandise flow, staffing, opening and closing procedures, loss prevention, and maintaining clean, well-organized sales floors.

The role emphasizes safety, compliance with company policies, and supportive leadership of Store Associates in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks (walking, standing, bending, etc.).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional displays and store fixtures for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and loss prevention.
• Keep store areas well-stocked and organized; ensure store cleanliness and safety.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure staff compliance.
• Support the Store Manager in supervising and developing Store Associates.
• Foster a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, bathrooms, floors, and trash disposal.
• Other duties as assigned.
