Job summary

Layton Construction seeks an Assistant Project Manager to support planning, management, and execution of work on assigned construction projects. You may handle one or more projects, ensuring quality, owner satisfaction, and profitability while building strong customer relationships.

The role emphasizes collaboration with internal and external teams, pre-construction planning, subcontractor coordination, and cost control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, preferably in light industrial or cold storage.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Understanding of construction laws, codes, and blueprint reading.
• Ethics and Layton standards of conduct.
• Strong problem solving and ability to work with others to achieve goals.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, management, and execution of work for assigned construction projects.
• May manage one or more projects to meet quality, owner expectations, and profitability.
• Develop and monitor project schedules, budgets, and milestones.
• Participate in value engineering and risk management processes.
• Prepare project plans, subcontracts, and close-out procedures.
• Coordinate with owners, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Manage submittals, RFIs, and documentation to avoid delays.
• Maintain owner relationships and ensure timely payments and billing.
