Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support planning, management, and execution of assigned construction projects. This role may handle multiple projects, ensuring quality, owner satisfaction, and profitability while building customer relationships.

Responsibilities include budgeting, pre-construction planning, subcontract negotiations, schedule development, and close-out activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, preferably light industrial/cold storage.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong knowledge of building codes and blueprints.
• Ethical conduct and compliance with Layton policies.
• Problem solving and data-driven decision making.
• Team player with the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
• Self-starter with goal-oriented mindset.
• Spanish language basics in construction preferred.
• Tech-savvy with ability to learn new software quickly.

Responsibilities

• Deliver predictable outcomes for internal and external teams.
• Assist in preparing estimates, budgets, and cost reports.
• Lead pre-construction planning and schedule development.
• Negotiate subcontracts and manage change orders.
• Coordinate close-out procedures and warranty letters.
• Develop and monitor project quality, safety, and risk plans.
• Maintain owner relationships and regular project communications.
• Mentor project and field engineers.
