Job summary

Veit is seeking an Assistant Project Manager/Estimator to support the Project Manager in managing contract work from start to finish, including scheduling, cost containment, progress monitoring, and client communication; occasional on-site work may be required.

The role involves reviewing plans, taking-off quantities with AGTEK/Bluebeam, preparing bids, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining schedules and budgets, and building relationships with clients and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 3–5 years’ experience in project management/estimating related work.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Ability to read and interpret policies, reports, and legal documents; present to groups.
• Proficient with bidding and project management software; MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Manage project from start to finish with PM guidance; may involve on-site work.
• Review plans/specifications to determine scope of work.
• Maintain project schedules and budgets.
• Assist planning, organization, execution, and day-to-day operations while keeping the project within budget.
• Identify resource requirements and gaps; assist in change orders.
• Monitor project performance and inform PM of daily progress.
• Prepare material takeoffs using industry software (AGTEK, Excel, Bluebeam) and hand takeoffs.
• Solicit quotes from subcontractors and consider DBE/MBE requirements.
• Construct bids by adding activities, crews, equipment, and adjusting rates.
• Deliver bid proposals to owner/GC within required timeframes.
• Develop client relationships and keep leadership informed.
• Support post-award project management with the PM.
