World Market in Kansas City, MO is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead a high‑performing team and drive sales and profitability while upholding our values, brand, policies, and standards.

You will partner with the Store Manager to foster a customer‑first culture, manage daily priorities, and develop associates through coaching, training, and performance management. Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays is required; 21+ and lifting up to 40 lbs may be needed.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience delivering results in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Effective communication skills with openness to feedback.
• Ability to coach associates in the moment.
• Ability to de-escalate store and customer situations.
• Plan and prioritize according to business needs.
• Strong sense of urgency and prioritization.
• Attention to detail and problem solving.
• Sound decision-making and delegation skills.
• Ability to execute daily priorities efficiently.
• 2+ years of leadership in fast-paced specialty retail (preferred).
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to stand, bend, climb ladders and lift up to 40 lbs.
• Minimum age 21 years.

Responsibilities

• Model and lead a customer-first selling culture across the team.
• Analyze trends using available reporting to identify opportunities and take action.

• Plan for and execute daily tasks and duties in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing, customer-focused team.
• Utilize company tools and training to ensure proper execution of tasks.
• Validate and maintain Loss Prevention policies and inventory controls.
• Support a safe work environment through ongoing training and accountability.
