Job summary

Sprouts Farmers Market is seeking an Assistant Grocery Manager in Whittier, CA. You will assist in leading one of the store’s busiest teams, driving sales, margins and inventory, while delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment.

You will manage merchandising, ordering, training, and staff development, ensuring health and safety standards are followed. This role requires flexibility and strong leadership to support store goals.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age with 1–3 years retail management experience; familiarity with natural foods preferred
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays; walking up to 3 miles per 8 hours
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to take and give direction within a team
• Outgoing, friendly demeanor with the ability to interact with customers
• Proven leadership to build, motivate and maintain staff; understand margin reports and weekly sales numbers
• Attention to detail, analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong organizational and planning skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Must be able to transfer milk trays weighing up to 60 lbs. for up to 25 hours
• Must transfer boxes up to 50 lbs. for up to 25 hours without mechanical assistance
• Repetitive squatting/kneeling/bending to access floor level for up to 30 hours

Responsibilities

• Assist the Grocery Manager in managing and merchandising the department for productivity and profit
• Oversee ordering, inventory controls, product quality and supervision of the Grocery team
• Coordinate merchandising and sales through planning, direction, and teamwork
• Lead a team to deliver high-quality products and outstanding customer service
• Assist in hiring, training, and developing the Grocery Team
• Unload and sort store deliveries
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
