Job summary

Panera Bread is seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead a bakery-cafe team and partner with the General Manager to drive guest delight and business growth. You will hire, train, and coach staff, manage scheduling, and ensure operations meet quality and safety standards.

You will foster Panera’s Guiding Values, support cost control and inventory, and build a culture of warmth and teamwork while delivering outstanding guest experiences in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 years.
• 1+ years of restaurant management experience preferred.
• ServSafe certification (or ability to achieve).
• Proven ability to drive positive results through strong business acumen.
• Proven availability to run great shifts in a fast-paced environment.
• Background check required, lifting up to 50 pounds, standing/walking up to 6 hours.

Responsibilities

• Support your General Manager by making key decisions and problem solving.
• Plan and manage staffing needs, shift scheduling, people development, and succession planning.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members while motivating and celebrating the team.
• Assist in managing performance to meet goals, standards, and guest service expectations.
• Partner with the General Manager to develop managers on processes and guiding values.
• Work as a team to ensure guests are delighted by food, service, and team.
• Build relationships that lead to long-term, loyal guests as part of management.
• Follow procedures to execute company strategies and initiatives.
• Ensure policy compliance and a safe, healthy workplace.
• Assist in maintaining costs and inventory; contribute to a culture of warmth, belonging, growth, and trust.
