Books-A-Million in Columbia, SC is seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead day-to-day store operations as Manager On Duty with the management team. You will drive sales, deliver exceptional customer service, and support the General Manager in executing store objectives.

You will oversee staff training, scheduling, hiring processes, merchandising standards, and security. Strong leadership, communication, and accountability are essential to meet monthly targets and maintain store excellence.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Previous supervisor experience required.
• Ability to supervise a large number of associates.
• Strong decision-making, communication, and merchandising skills.
• Successful completion of all required background screenings.

Responsibilities

• Lead store operations as Manager On Duty in partnership with the management team.
• Oversee execution of all store operations to maximize sales and customer service.
• Maintain store security and act as a key-holding manager.
• Resolve customer complaints to a satisfactory conclusion.
• Maintain merchandising standards and stock levels within monthly budget.
• Assist General Manager with interviewing, hiring and onboarding new talent.
• Train and develop Associates and Leads; conduct regular briefings and meetings.
• Audit buyback processes to ensure policy adherence; communicate performance with GM.
• Create schedules and daily agendas aligned with business needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
