Job summary

Trinity Services Group is seeking an Assistant Food Service Director to join our team at Chesapeake City Jail. In this on-site role you will partner with the Food Service Director to plan, direct, and coordinate a large jail kitchen operation, supervise staff, ensure safety, and maintain service quality.

You will oversee payroll, inventory, and reporting, ensure compliance with health codes, and participate in contract-related activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience; must be 18+.
• Two years of management or supervisory experience in a food service position.
• Three years of experience working in food service.
• ServSafe Certification.
• Experience with purchasing, inventory, ordering and receiving.
• Knowledge of kitchen sanitation and safety standards.
• Knowledge of basic accounting and ability to complete reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and food service management systems.
• Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and manage the facility food service operation.
• Hire, orient, train and issue corrective action to team members.
• Review and approve payroll on a weekly basis.
• Build and maintain positive client connections; ensure ongoing satisfaction.
• Oversee quantities prepared and served according to menu/plan.
• Ensure team is trained and capable to perform duties safely and compliantly.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and prepare planned menus.
• Ensure all required reports are completed accurately and on time.
• Oversee preventive maintenance programs to protect assets.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and local, state and federal laws.
• Store food items safely and hygienically.
• Plan for special events in collaboration with facility staff.
• Maintain serving schedules and adherence to menu specs.
• Maintain sanitary environments per health codes.
• Maintain on-site daily and monthly financial, production, and activity reports.
• Participate in contract negotiations and renewals as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
