Job summary

Trinity Services Group in Virginia's Chesapeake City Jail seeks an Assistant Food Service Director to help plan, direct, and coordinate a large jail kitchen operation, supervising food service staff and ensuring safe, compliant food handling.

You will work with the Food Service Director, manage payroll, maintain inventory, and help meet client needs while delivering high-quality meals and a sanitary environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience.
• Two years of management or supervisory experience in a food service position.
• Three years of experience working in food service.
• ServSafe Certification.
• Must have experience with purchasing, inventory, ordering and receiving.
• Knowledge and experience managing and applying kitchen sanitation and safety standards and methods.
• Knowledge of basic accounting and mathematical abilities to complete necessary reports.
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and with food service management systems.
• Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the supervision, training, and management of the facility food service operation.
• Hires, orients, trains and issues corrective action to team members.
• Review and approve payroll on a weekly basis.
• Builds positive connections with clients through communication and service.
• Oversees quantities of food prepared and served according to plan.
• Ensures the team is trained and capable to perform duties safely and in compliance.
• Maintains accuracy of inventory and prepares planned menu schedules.
• Ensures ordering and all required reports are completed on time.
• Oversees preventive maintenance programs to protect assets.
• Manages food service operation in compliance with policies and laws.
• Ensures food items are stored safely.
• Plans for special events and functions with customer facility staff.
• Maintains serving schedules and sanitary environment per codes.
• Maintains on-site reports of daily/monthly financial and activity.
• Responsible for state inspections of food service operation.
• May participate in contract negotiation and renewal.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
