Job summary

NIA Community Services Network Inc is seeking an Assistant Program Director to support the Program Director in managing a school-based after-school program in New York. Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 2–3 years of experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
  • Experience supervising, coaching, or leading others preferred.
  • Must complete trainings related to Mental Health and Inclusion responsibilities.
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, and team-building skills with effective communication.
  • Collaborative, flexible mindset and professional demeanor are essential.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Computer proficiency and ability to manage multiple administrative tasks; familiarity with funder databases is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with supervision of all aspects of a school-based after-school program.
  • Support on-site Mental Health services and adherence to mental health response and referral plans.
  • Assist in managing daily program operations and coordinate with school administration, teachers, and staff.
  • Assist with planning and logistics: schedule creation, snack/space planning, trips, supplies, and programmatic needs.
  • Represent and liaise with stakeholders including participants, parents, school staff, funders, and the community.
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring, training, and coaching of program staff.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to the Program Director.
  • Report concerns about program quality and assist in meeting licensing and funder requirements.
  • Support on-site recruitment, advertising, and participation in visits from funding agencies.
  • Maintain accurate time/attendance records and other required documentation; participate in professional development.
