Job summary

Commonpoint in New York City is seeking an Assistant Program Director for our after-school programs serving Kindergarten to Fifth grade. You will support the Program Director to deliver high-quality, enriching experiences, mentor staff and students, and help coordinate activities after school.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Education, Social Work, or related fields preferred.
Experience working with youth in educational settings such as schools or after-school programs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
Ability to maintain a safe, supportive environment and adapt to a fast-paced program setting.

Responsibilities

Mentor staff and students, offering guidance to help the school community thrive.
Serve as a trusted thought partner to the Program Director for program development and growth.
Lead dynamic programming to ensure high student participation and a safe, inclusive environment.
Cultivate strong relationships with staff, youth, parents, schools, and the local community.
Design and execute youth development programming promoting leadership and teamwork.
Participate in staff meetings and trainings to model growth and inspire others.
Provide visionary leadership and use technology to streamline program operations.
Take on additional programmatic and administrative tasks as needed.
