Job summary

NIA Community Services Network is seeking an Assistant Program Director for a Brooklyn, NY school-based after-school program. This part-time role supports the Program Director in daily operations, safety, staffing, and stakeholder engagement, serving as on-site manager when the Director is away.

Responsibilities include supervising program activities, coordinating with school staff, planning events, handling administrative tasks, and ensuring compliance with safety and licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required; BA/BS preferred.
• 2–3 years of experience with children in an educational setting.
• Experience supervising, coaching, or leading others is preferred.
• Must complete trainings on Mental Health and Inclusion responsibilities.
• Excellent leadership and communication to motivate and manage staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist supervision of all aspects of a school-based after-school program.
• Coordinate with school administration, teachers, and staff as assigned.
• Assist with program planning, scheduling, and logistics.
• Support on-site Mental Health services and referral plan adherence.
• Recruit, train, and coach program staff as assigned.
• Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to the Program Director.
• Ensure safety drills and compliance with licensing mandates.
• Engage families and maintain positive stakeholder relationships.
